WHAT'S THE FAIR ABOUT?

The Kyoto Antique Fair, the largest antique fair in western Japan, is held three times a year at the Kyoto Pulse Plaza convention center south of Kyoto Station.

There’s almost nothing you can’t find at the Kyoto Antique Fair! Many stalls specialize in a particular sort of item, such as kimono, pottery, woodblock prints, Buddhist relics, jewelry, artwork, or furniture, but some are an eclectic mix.

There’s also an international flavor to the fair, with some sellers dealing in antiques from Europe, America, Southeast Asia, and more.

Though you might be thinking antiques are outside your travel budget, the Kyoto Antique Fair has something for every wallet, with some items as affordable as only 500 or 1,000 yen. On the other side of the spectrum, you can also find lavish works of art made from rare materials and crafted by well-known artists that could set a potential buyer back millions of yen.

Make sure to schedule a stop by the Kyoto Antique Fair if you’re hoping to find some authentic antiques to take home with you!
